Divided We Stand

Menschlichkeit, Kultur oder Gesellschaft, wie auch immer man es nennen will. Wir könnten viel weiter darin sein, Obdachlosigkeit, Hunger und Krankheiten auszurotten und es allen Menschen möglich zu machen, gut zu leben und voranzukommen, einfach großartige Menschen zu sein. Es gibt noch so viele ungenutzte Möglichkeiten, und wir könnten einen weitaus besseren Job machen. Kann ich bei meiner tagtäglichen Arbeit all dies hinkriegen? Nein, aber ich hoffe, dass ich im Umgang mit anderen und in der Qualität meiner Arbeit, in dem, was ich tue, als Rädchen die Maschine voranbringe. Ja, ich fühle mich mit verantwortlich, aber ich bin auch realistisch, was ich als einzelnes Individuum bewirken kann.

Humanity, culture, or society, whatever you want to call it. We could all be a lot further along, between eradicating homelessness, hunger, illness, just giving all humans an opportunity to thrive and to produce, to be awesome humans. There’s so much opportunity left there, and we could do a much better job. Do I think that in my day-to-day job I could fix all of that? No, but hopefully in my interactions with individuals and kind of the quality of work that I do and the line of work that I do, I hope that I’m in some small part kind of moving the ball forward there. So yeah, I have a sense of responsibility, but I also have a sense of reality of how much I can actually change as one little individual.
